In January 2015, my students and I travelled to Nepal to build a library, teach classes, and design a ceramic water filtration system for the underprivileged children at the Maya Universe School. “A Return to Maya” is a documentary on the trip. The film premiers Thursday, April 23, at Colby-Sawyer College. The showing will take place at 5:00 pm in the Wesson Honors Suite in Colgate Hall.
Opening Sunday, March 29, Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents fifteen generations of Raku family tradition, featuring Raku tea bowls, incense burners, eating utensils, water jars, and other traditional objects of Japanese tea ceremonies from the past 500 years. 3/25/2015: One day only, the Ikebana Demonstration, featuring instructor Masako Gibeault, included ceramic works by Jon Keenan on display. The demonstration on the traditional art of Japanese Flower Arrangement is free with museum admission. For more information, click HERE.
